Usage Note 44538: Custom details tags do not appear in the export definitions for SAS® Marketing Automation
The SAS® Marketing Automation 5.4 User's Guide, Chapter 2, "Defining and Administering Campaigns," page 39, says:
Campaign and Communication folders contain the set of standard fields that are associated
with campaign and communication definitions. Also displayed are custom details that are
associated with individual campaign definitions and communication definitions that are unattached
to an export definition or that use an export definition that is based on the same information map.
This information is not correct. The custom details tags are not shown in the export definition.
In order to add custom details to an export definition, associate a tag with the custom detail when you create the export definition. Use the same tag name for custom details that are the same across multiple campaign or communication templates.
SAS® Customer Intelligence Studio enables you to add a custom detail that is associated with a campaign or communication to your export. SAS Customer Intelligence Studio enables you to do this because it is aware of the specific template you are using.
This behavior is an improvement over SAS Marketing Automation 4.4 and 5.1, in which an export might reference custom details from templates that you are not using. This previous behavior could result in null values for these fields in the output.
The documentation is expected to be updated in a later release.
